April, 2015 Clinic Recap

On Sunday, April 26, 2015, Amigos de Animales spayed or neutered 172 animals:  118 dogs and 54 cats with four vets working. It was a day of hot dogs, unlike in the rainy season when we have cool cats.  We had lots of puppies and kittens, animals who will grow up more safely and humanely while not adding to the population of homeless animals in Boquete.

As always, our volunteers are the best.  Many of our regulars are travelling but we had plenty of others willing to step in and learn something new at a different station. We are fortunate to have such a fabulous group of people who will do whatever it takes to get the job done.

We are always trying to tweak our process to make it better or more efficient and we thank those who come to our clinic for their patience and commitment to better the lives of their animal companions.

We send our best wishes to Nancy Halbert who is in Panama City having back surgery.  Despite her pending surgery, she still managed to get breakfast to us! And thanks to all our other food suppliers, Rodrigo, Nairn, and Heidi; they make sure that we are always well fed.

We will be announcing the date of the Annual Meeting soon.  Immediately following that meeting we will have a cross-training session where our volunteers, new and old, can learn about all the stations and possibly train as a regular or fill-in at a different post.

Tuesday May 5 is the kick-off to our 2015 Membership Campaign.  Look for Carol Hurst in the hex room at the BCP to purchase your membership – still $10 with great benefits from the local stores.
