October, 2015 Clinic Recap

On Sunday October 25, Amigos de Animales spayed or neutered 181 animals:  88 dogs and 93 cats. While this was not as big a clinic as planned, it was plenty big and went very well.  This year, at several clinics, the number of cats brought in equaled or surpassed the number of dogs; the cat trappers have been hard at work. Our annual total for 2015 is 1907 animals: 1062 dogs and 842 cats, the percentage for cats having gone up considerably from prior years.  Our total for 10 years is now 9577 animals; we should hit 10,000 by mid-year 2016! Hard to believe that we have completed a full year in our new facility.  Every time we walk into our new home, we are all filled with such gratitude and…

Amigos de Animales Annual Meeting

Amigos de Animales is having its Annual Meeting on Thursday January 28 at 1PM at our facility in Alto Boquete.  Please join us and hear of our accomplishments in the past year as well as our financials, current activities, and plans for the year and into the future. Immediately following the meeting we will conduct an information/training session outlining a variety of clinic responsibilities. This will be a refresher course as well as an opportunity to learn about other stations and fill in for regular clinic workers who may be sick, traveling, or otherwise unavailable on clinic day. Membership cards for 2016 will be available. The next clinic will be January 31. Hope to see you there.  All are welcome to attend this important meeting.

Monthly Spay & Neuter Clinic

Monthly Spay & Neuter Clinic

On the last Sunday of every month (except November and December) Amigos de Animales holds spay/neuter clinics. Since 2005, working in Boquete and the surrounding areas, we have sterilized over 8500 animals. This has been accomplished with support from local and regional vets as well as vets who come here from the US to donate their time and expertise to our clinics. Besides sterilization, the many animals receive de-parasitizing, vitamin shots, pain meds and antibiotics on an as-needed basis. We have animal collectors in several areas who bring animals from their neighborhoods every month to the clinics, and we have set up transportation so animals can be brought to the clinics with their owners. When we first began the sterilization clinics, most of our clients were Americans who had adopted…
