June 2016 Clinic Report

June Recap Header

On Sunday June 26, Amigos de Animales spayed or neutered 166 animals, 102 dogs and 64 cats.  This was a good clinic with some very sad moments for a couple dogs whose problems were so advanced that they could not be saved.  That is why, in addition to our clinics, we support education in the schools where children (and their parents through them) can be taught about the importance of caring for and feeding their domestic animals.  The work that Joan started in the schools is being carried on by Magaly and other wonderful Animales  volunteers. We always say that no animal will be turned away for inability to pay.  This month’s clinic provides a good    example of how that affects us and our resources. This month, out of the 166 animals brought in, only 119 could pay the full amount. Some paid a little, some paid none, but all were cared for equally. To simply break even at our clinics, we actually need to charge $25 a dog and $15 a cat, but our modest fees are $15 per dog and $8 per cat.  Of that, $12 and $8 respectively goes to our vets.  When you factor in the animals who cannot pay anything, you can see why we need to fund-raise and are so grateful for any and all  donations. Please help us by sponsoring a dog or cat (or two or three) at every clinic so we can continue the work started 11 years ago.  Go to our website and see how you can help– we have a PayPal account and a payment can be made automatically every month or however you wish—just click here

Whatever you can give, we and the dogs and cats of Boquete would be forever grateful for!

Our kitty collectors need your assistance in trapping and transportation for the clinics.  Please contact

Kirsten Quimby at zoeyquimby@gmail.com if you can help in any way.
